Temporary steel trench covers in standard sizes

These untreated mild-steel road plates are supplied for temporary excavation coverage in construction, maintenance and demolition work. The range includes square and rectangular plates, several thicknesses and optional lifting holes to support planned mechanical handling.

Available sizes include 1250 × 1250mm plates in 12mm, 15mm and 20mm thicknesses, plus 2500 × 1250mm plates in 6mm, 8mm, 12mm and 20mm thicknesses. Lifting-hole quantities can be selected to match the proposed handling method.

Engineering and installation responsibility

No universal loading capacity is stated. The purchaser is responsible for confirming that plate thickness, span, bearing, overlap and support conditions are suitable for the excavation and traffic. Obtain advice from a competent engineer where vehicles or plant will cross the plate.

• Extend the plate onto firm support around every side of the opening.
• Secure the plate and ramp, recess or feather edges where required.
• Consider anti-skid treatment and advance warning signs.
• Use suitable lifting equipment and exclude people from suspended loads.
• Inspect the plate and excavation throughout the work.
