One-way traffic control plates for private roads

Flow plates help enforce a one-way route by allowing vehicles to pass from the intended direction while discouraging movement against the traffic plan. They are commonly used at car parks, schools, retail sites, industrial premises and other controlled private roads.

Vehicle type is the first selection point. A car-only plate must not be chosen for routes used by delivery vehicles or HGVs. Heavy-duty traffic control plates use robust steel construction and spring or counterbalanced mechanisms designed for demanding traffic. Lock-down options can provide temporary two-way access where a site procedure requires it.

Design the complete traffic layout

  • Confirm the maximum axle load and every vehicle type that may use the route.
  • Use approach speed ramps and clear warning signage where the layout requires them.
  • Set out enough modules for the usable road width without leaving a bypass route.
  • Choose fixings for the supporting surface and inspect consumable springs routinely.

Flow plates are intended for controlled private-road applications and should form part of a properly designed traffic-management layout. If emergency, service or occasional two-way access is required, discuss the operating procedure before ordering.
