Specify for the heaviest expected vehicle
A car-rated flow plate is not suitable when lorries, refuse vehicles or heavy service traffic may use the route. The HGV traffic control plate is intended for mixed traffic on controlled private roads. Enough modules must cover the usable lane without leaving a bypass.

- Confirm the maximum vehicle and axle loading for the route.
- Control approach speed with the appropriate ramp and warning signs.
- Check the supporting surface and select suitable anchors.
- Document any planned two-way or emergency-access procedure.
- Inspect moving components and fixings on a routine schedule.
