Good installation starts with verified dimensions, suitable supporting ground and a clear plan for posts, leaves and signs.
Surface-fixed and root-fixed posts
Surface-fixed posts need a structurally suitable concrete base and anchors selected for the loads and substrate. Root-fixed posts are set into purpose-made concrete foundations. Existing asphalt alone should not be assumed to provide an adequate structural fixing.
Pre-installation checklist
- Measure the road and restriction height at the exact installation position.
- Locate drainage, ducts and other underground services before excavation.
- Check levels, leaf swing, latch posts and safe hold-open areas.
- Confirm foundation and anchor design for width, height and exposure.
- Plan lifting, traffic control, curing time and site access.
After installation, verify clearance, locking, signs, moving-leaf restraint and the operating procedure. Barrier Shop offers installation planning and nationwide installation for suitable projects.
